In a major educational development for Bihar, a degree college will be established in Chakvyas village of Goraul block, located in Vaishali district of Bihar. Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar is set to lay the foundation stone on September 12, marking the fulfillment of a long-pending public demand for higher education infrastructure in the region.
The college will be constructed on approximately 7 acres of land currently used as a playground within the Government Higher Secondary School campus in Goraul.
First-Ever Degree College in the Vaishali Assembly Constituency
This will be the first degree college in the Vaishali Assembly constituency, a move that is being celebrated as a monumental step forward for local youth. The demand for such an institution had persisted for years, and it was during his Pragati Yatra that Mr. Nitish Kumar assured residents that a college would be set up.
Following the Chief Minister’s announcement, the Education Department officially approved the project, paving the way for its execution.
Administrative Machinery in Action for Grand Foundation Ceremony
In preparation for the foundation stone laying ceremony, Vaishali District Magistrate Ms. Varsha Singh and Superintendent of Police Mr. Lalit Mohan Sharma visited Goraul on September 10 to review all arrangements. The inspection included the selected college site and surrounding areas.
The District Magistrate issued instructions for:
- Cleanliness and plot leveling
- Construction of an access road to the main stage
- Setup of green rooms, toilets, helipad, and spectator gallery
Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police oversaw security protocols, magistrate deployment, and route planning to ensure smooth proceedings during the high-profile event.
Local Development Aligned with Statewide Education Reforms
This initiative is part of the Bihar government’s larger vision to enhance access to quality higher education across rural and semi-urban areas. By creating educational infrastructure in under-served regions like Goraul, the government aims to:
- Reduce dropout rates after secondary education
- Generate local employment through educational services
- Provide accessible higher education for girls and disadvantaged communities
The establishment of the college also aligns with broader state development goals and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s focus on inclusive growth through education.
