New Delhi: Grid Controller of India Limited (GRID-INDIA) has achieved a major milestone by winning the Diamond Level (1st) Prize at the India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) Innovation Awards 2026. The recognition comes under the category “Most Innovative Renewable Energy Programs/Projects in India including Energy Storage Systems (ESS)”, highlighting GRID-INDIA’s groundbreaking efforts in enhancing grid flexibility and supporting renewable energy integration.

Award-Winning Project: Enhancing Grid Flexibility

The prestigious award was presented for the project titled “AGC Pilot Projects on BESS, Solar & PSP in the Indian Power System.”

The initiative focuses on integrating three critical technologies:

  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Solar Power Generation
  • Pumped Storage Plants (PSP)

By leveraging these technologies, GRID-INDIA has implemented Automatic Generation Control (AGC) to maintain grid stability and flexibility. This is particularly crucial as India’s renewable energy capacity continues to grow, ensuring reliable electricity supply while reducing carbon emissions.

Experts see this project as a key step toward modernizing India’s power grid and accelerating the country’s transition to clean and sustainable energy sources.
