Darbhanga: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday addressed a large public gathering at Nagendra Jha Stadium as part of the ongoing ‘Samriddhi Yatra’, reiterating his commitment to make Bihar a developed state and elevate it to the top tier among Indian states.
He reflected on the state’s progress since November 24, 2005, emphasizing improvements in law and order, education, health, roads, and electricity, while noting that fear and insecurity that once prevailed in Bihar have been eliminated.
“Earlier, people feared going out after sunset. Today, Bihar is safe, and development is visible in every sector,” CM Nitish Kumar said.
Key Achievements Highlighted by CM
During his address, Nitish Kumar detailed several development milestones:
- Education: Over 5.24 lakh government teachers reinstated, with remaining vacancies to be filled soon.
- Health: Medical colleges are being constructed in all districts; Patna to get a 5,000-bed facility, while old medical colleges are being upgraded to 2,500 beds.
- Connectivity: Goal of reaching Patna from any district within six hours has been achieved.
- Agriculture & Fisheries: Significant growth in fish production, doubling output in recent years.
- Electricity & Renewable Energy: Household electrification completed; solar energy initiatives being expanded.
- Employment: About 40 lakh people employed since 2005, with a new target to reach 1 crore jobs.
- Social Welfare: Pension hikes benefiting 1.3 crore citizens, and caste-based surveys identifying 94 lakh poor families for development schemes.
- Women Empowerment: Focus on female reservation, increased JEEvika Didi participation, and creating more opportunities for women.

Center-State Collaboration and Budget Support
Nitish Kumar emphasized the strong support from the central government, highlighting substantial budget allocations for Bihar in 2024. He also mentioned initiatives such as the Makhana Board, Khelo India programs, and other projects enhancing Bihar’s national profile.
“We have full cooperation from the central government, and initiatives like Khelo India and Makhana Board are giving Bihar a distinct identity,” CM said.
‘Saat Nishchay-3’: Future Roadmap for Bihar
Looking ahead, Nitish Kumar announced the ‘Saat Nishchay-3’ plan for the next five years, which includes:
- Adarsh schools and degree colleges in each block.
- Revival of closed sugar mills across the state.
- Installation of solar panels on rooftops of all households.
- Restriction on private practice for government doctors to improve public healthcare.
He assured that Bihar’s development pace would accelerate further, bringing the state to the forefront of India’s growth story.
Infrastructure Projects Inaugurated in Darbhanga
During his visit, CM Nitish Kumar also inaugurated 50 new projects worth ₹105 crore and 40 projects worth ₹33 crore. He inspected the Darbhanga Airport terminal, runway expansion, cargo hub, and connectivity roads, underscoring the focus on modern infrastructure development.

The public program was attended by senior political leaders including Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, JDU National Executive President Sanjay Kumar Jha, BJP State President Sanjay Sarawagi, Finance Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Madan Sahni, and others.
