New Delhi: NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has achieved another significant milestone in its renewable energy expansion by commissioning an additional 106 MW solar capacity at its 300 MW Barsingsar Solar Power Project in Rajasthan.
The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) granted the commissioning certificate on 2nd November 2025, confirming the successful completion of this phase. With the latest addition, the project’s total commissioned capacity has now reached 158.83 MW, following the earlier commissioning of 52.83 MW.
Indigenously Built Project Supporting Atmanirbhar Bharat
The Barsingsar Solar Power Project, being implemented under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), is located on NLCIL’s own land in Barsingsar, Bikaner District, Rajasthan.
The project utilizes indigenously manufactured, high-efficiency bifacial solar PV modules, in alignment with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. This approach not only supports domestic manufacturing but also enhances India’s self-reliance in renewable energy infrastructure.
Boost to Rajasthan’s Renewable Energy Mix
All the power generated from this solar project will be supplied to the State of Rajasthan, strengthening the state’s renewable energy mix and contributing to India’s clean energy goals.
With the commissioning of the new capacity, NLCIL’s total installed renewable energy capacity now stands at 1,588.83 MW. During the previous financial year, the company generated over 2 Billion Units (BU) of green power. The latest addition is expected to further increase the company’s clean energy generation, reinforcing its contribution to India’s sustainable energy future.
NLCIL plans to commission the remaining capacity by December 2025, achieving the full 300 MW target within the scheduled timeline.
Leadership and Government Support
The achievement has been lauded by Mr. G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Coal & Mines, Government of India, who congratulated NLCIL through a tweet. He commended the company’s efforts in driving the nation’s sustainable growth and clean energy transition under the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
NLCIL’s Vision for 2030
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India Limited, stated:
“This commissioning marks another step forward in NLCIL’s journey towards a sustainable and diversified energy portfolio. NLCIL is steadfastly pursuing its renewable energy expansion plan with an aim to achieve 10 GW of Renewable Energy capacity by 2030, in addition to ongoing solar and wind projects across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Assam, and Tamil Nadu.”
He emphasized that these initiatives reaffirm NLCIL’s commitment to India’s national renewable energy targets and its vision of a cleaner, greener future.
