New Delhi/Chennai: In a significant boost to India’s renewable energy landscape, NLC India Limited has been awarded a contract by NTPC Limited for developing a 450 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Project.
Hybrid Power Project Across Rajasthan and Gujarat
The Letter of Award (LoA), received by NLC India on June 27, outlines the development of the hybrid project at two key locations:
- Bikaner, Rajasthan – 300 MW
- Bhuj, Gujarat – 150 MW
This project is part of NTPC’s ongoing efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio and promote cleaner energy sources in collaboration with leading public sector enterprises.

25-Year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
The hybrid energy project, which combines both wind and solar technologies for optimized energy generation, will supply power to NTPC under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
As per the agreement, the Scheduled Commencement of Supply Date (SCSD) from the full capacity of the project must be achieved within 24 months from the Effective Date of the PPA. This timeline positions the project for completion by mid-2027.
Strategic Step Toward Renewable Targets
The project further solidifies NLC India’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions. With this hybrid model, energy generation will benefit from both daytime solar availability and wind patterns, improving reliability and grid integration.
NTPC’s collaboration with NLC also reflects a strategic alignment with the Government of India’s renewable energy goals, including 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
