NLC India Limited Launches Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 Campaign with Blood Donation, Plantation & Skill Development Drives

Neyveli: NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has officially launched its Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2025 campaign, marking another significant step in its ongoing commitment to cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and social welfare. The campaign, themed “Swachhotsav”, runs from September 17 to October 2, 2025, aligning with the national movement under the Swachh Bharat Mission. It encourages citizen participation by treating cleanliness as a community festival.

Swachhotsav: Celebrating Cleanliness as a Community Festival

The campaign emphasizes collective efforts towards a clean and healthy environment. To mark the occasion, the Swachh Bharat pledge was administered in three languages at all NLCIL units, offices, and project sites nationwide. The ceremony at the Corporate Office in Neyveli witnessed the esteemed presence of Mr. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Mr. Samir Swarup, Director HR, and other senior officials.

Inaugural Events: A Multifaceted Approach to Social Responsibility

Mr. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, accompanied by Director HR Mr. Samir Swarup and Chief Vigilance Officer Thiru Appakannu Govindarajan, inaugurated and actively participated in six key events, demonstrating NLCIL’s holistic approach to community engagement:

  • Blood Donation Camp: Held at NLC India Hospital, the camp saw 107 voluntary donors come forward to contribute. The event also had the presence of Executive Director Legal CSR Mr. DVSN Murthy and Medical Director Dr. P Sukumar, underscoring the importance of health and humanitarian service.
  • Student-Elder Interaction: At Ananda Illam, students engaged in sessions designed to instill respect for senior citizens and encourage meaningful interaction, fostering intergenerational bonding.
  • Skill Development MoU Signing: A significant milestone was the signing of an MoU between the Neyveli Automobile Association and Sneha Opportunity Services, an institution supporting special children under NLCIL’s patronage. The agreement focuses on providing skill development training to 20 underprivileged rural women, including land-displaced families and destitute widows, equipping them with sustainable livelihood opportunities.
  • Mass Plantation Drive: Demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability, NLCIL undertook a large-scale plantation drive at the reclaimed areas of all three mines. A total of 7,500 saplings were planted, with the CMD personally leading the event at Mine II.
  • Youth Training Camp: In collaboration with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Neyveli Unit, a 10-day training camp was inaugurated to prepare youth aspiring to join the armed forces, focusing on physical and mental fitness.
  • PM Cup Sports Meet: To promote rural sports and youth engagement, the day culminated in a prize distribution ceremony at Bharathi Stadium, where the CMD presented awards to winners from various sporting events involving rural students from Neyveli and nearby areas.

Recognition for Excellence in Swachhata Initiatives

NLCIL’s persistent dedication to cleanliness has earned it back-to-back first prizes in the Swachhata campaigns of 2023 and 2024. These awards recognize the company’s innovative activities and exemplary public participation, reflecting the PSU’s leadership role in supporting national cleanliness drives.

The inaugural day’s events underlined the vital role every individual plays in maintaining environmental hygiene and public health. Through these initiatives, NLCIL not only supports the Swachh Bharat Mission but also fosters a culture of responsibility, sustainability, and community empowerment.

The launch of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 reinforces NLC India Limited’s commitment to holistic corporate social responsibility that extends beyond business operations.
