Hyderabad: NMDC Limited has kicked off FY26 with a historic performance, achieving its highest-ever April production and sales volumes since inception. The state-run miner produced 4.00 million tonnes (MT) of iron ore and sold 3.63 MT during April 2025, registering a 15% growth in production and 2.8% growth in sales over the corresponding period last year (CPLY).

Strong Performance Across Mining Complexes

The company’s flagship mining complexes – Kirandul, Bacheli, and Donimalai – delivered strong performances:

  • Kirandul saw a 12% growth in despatches over CPLY.
  • Bacheli recorded a 4% increase.
  • Donimalai delivered a stellar 88% growth in despatch volumes.

These figures contributed to NMDC’s highest-ever monthly despatch, up 23% YoY, reinforcing the miner’s efficient supply chain operations and robust logistics.

The Bacheli Complex further achieved its best-ever April road despatch, clocking 2.22 lakh tonnes, a 25% rise over its previous record. Additionally, pellet production surged to 0.23 lakh tonnes, breaking its own April record set back in 2018.

Leadership Statement and Vision

Commenting on the achievement, Mr Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman and Managing Director of NMDC, said, “Our consistent performance speaks volumes about NMDC’s commitment to excellence and growth. Our record-breaking April performance, coupled with best-ever despatch figures from our major iron ore mines – Kirandul, Bacheli, and Donimalai – solidifies our leadership position and sets a strong foundation for achieving our ambitious target of becoming a 100 MT mining company by 2030.”

Outlook

NMDC’s April performance reflects its operational agility, strategic planning, and technological readiness to meet India’s growing demand for raw materials in the steel sector. As the backbone of India’s iron ore supply, NMDC continues to align its expansion strategies with the country’s infrastructure and industrial growth goals.
