State-owned NMDC Limited announced a 5.1% increase in iron ore production for December, reaching 4.71 million tonnes (MT), compared to 4.48 MT in the same month last year.
However, the company’s sales for the month fell to 3.91 MT, down from 4.19 MT in December of the previous fiscal year. The figures are provisional, according to a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Based in Hyderabad and operating under the Ministry of Steel, NMDC is India’s largest iron ore mining company, supplying about 20% of the nation’s demand for this critical raw material used in steelmaking.
