In commemoration of World Intellectual Property (IP) Day 2025, the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, organized a National Workshop titled “Driving Innovation with IP: Strategic Approaches to Commercialization.”
Held at the historic Faculty Hall of the IISc heritage building in Bengaluru, the event brought together a vibrant mix of over 250 in-person participants and more than 500 virtual attendees, representing academia, research institutions, startups, industry players, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and government agencies.
The workshop was co-organised with esteemed institutions such as IIIT Bangalore, Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI), Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), Central Silk Board, BeST Cluster, IPTel, and IISc, reflecting the collective push toward a more innovation-driven national ecosystem.
Focused on strategic IP management and technology commercialization, the workshop served as a platform for stakeholders to share best practices, exchange ideas, and chart actionable pathways to leverage intellectual property for market competitiveness and sustainable growth.

- Promotion of innovation-led entrepreneurship
- Enhancing IP awareness among research and industrial communities
The event reinforced the critical role of IP in fostering innovation, economic development, and global competitiveness, aligning with India’s broader ambition to become a hub of high-value R&D and entrepreneurship.
The NRDC was established in India in 1953 to help develop and promote technologies developed at various national R&D institutions.
