Begusarai: In a significant step toward enhancing public infrastructure and community safety, NTPC Barauni, in collaboration with the District Administration of Begusarai, has launched a high-impact project to install 89 high-mast lights across key locations in the district. The project, valued at approximately ₹5 crore, is aimed at improving visibility, promoting social and economic activities, and supporting disaster management in flood-prone areas.
The formal handover of the agreement took place recently, with Mr. Joydeep Ghosh, Head of Project (HOP), NTPC Barauni, presenting the document to Mr. Tushar Singla, District Magistrate, Begusarai. The agreement marks the beginning of a community-focused initiative that blends corporate social responsibility with local governance for maximum impact.
Lighting the Way to Safer and Stronger Communities
The high-mast lights will be strategically installed at intersections, marketplaces, playgrounds, and community gathering spots, ensuring better illumination and increased safety in both rural and semi-urban parts of the district. Given Begusarai’s vulnerability to flooding, these lights will play a crucial role during emergencies by providing well-lit spaces for temporary shelter and relief operations.
The project will be executed on a deposit work basis, with NTPC Barauni funding the initiative and the district administration handling the installation and execution. This partnership showcases a model approach to public-private cooperation in community development.
Boosting Business, Sports, and Social Life
Beyond disaster preparedness, the initiative is expected to stimulate local business activity, encourage community events, and provide safer play environments for children, particularly during the evening hours. Illuminated public spaces often become hubs of activity, thereby improving quality of life and fostering a greater sense of community among residents.
Officials Present at the Event
The MoU handover ceremony was attended by several dignitaries and senior officials, including Mr. Saroj Kumar (HOHR), Mr. K.N. Mishra (Senior Manager) from NTPC Barauni, and Mr. Praveen Kumar (DDC) from the district administration, among others.
This high-mast lighting project underscores NTPC Barauni’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive community development under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
