New Delhi/Kokrajhar: NTPC Bongaigaon has taken a significant step toward enhancing public healthcare and community well-being in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) by signing two key Memorandums of Agreement (MoAs) with the District Administration, Kokrajhar, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Burn ICU at Kokrajhar Medical College & Hospital

The first MoA, a tripartite agreement among NTPC, the District Administration, and Kokrajhar Medical College & Hospital (KMCH), focuses on the construction of a modern 6-bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the Burn Unit at KMCH. With a project cost of ₹1.47 crore, the facility will feature advanced life-support systems, infection-control measures, specialized medical equipment, HVAC and oxygen pipeline systems, and state-of-the-art patient monitoring infrastructure.

The Burn ICU is expected to significantly enhance KMCH’s capacity to treat critical burn cases and provide tertiary care for patients across BTR and neighboring districts. The project is slated for completion within 12 months.

With a total project cost of ₹13.44 lakh, the initiative will supply monthly food and protein supplements to support recovery and treatment adherence.

MoA Signing Ceremony

The signing ceremony was attended by Masanda M. Pertin, IAS, District Commissioner, Kokrajhar; Mr. Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head, NTPC Bongaigaon; Prof. Dr. Atul Chandra Baro, Principal and Chief Superintendent, KMCH; Kabita Deka, ACS, Additional Deputy Commissioner; Mr. Amit K Asthana, Head of HR, NTPC Bongaigaon; Dr. Deepayan Paul, Chief Medical Officer, NTPC Bongaigaon; and Dr. Vivek Pandey, District TB Officer. Senior officials from NTPC and hospital representatives were also present.

Statements from Officials

Masanda M. Pertin highlighted that the new initiatives are timely interventions crucial for strengthening the district’s healthcare framework. She expressed gratitude to NTPC Bongaigaon for its proactive CSR efforts and emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships for inclusive development in the region.

Mr. Arnab Maitra reiterated NTPC’s commitment to inclusive growth, stating that the Burn ICU will strengthen critical care facilities in BTR while nutritional support for TB patients will enhance recovery and prevention. He noted that these projects underscore NTPC’s ongoing mission to foster a healthier and more resilient community.

CSR and Community Welfare Alignment

Both projects are conceptualized under NTPC’s CSR mandate, aligned with Schedule VII (i) of the Companies Act, 2013, promoting healthcare and preventive health. The initiatives support the Government of India’s vision of equitable healthcare access and reflect NTPC’s sustained efforts to improve community welfare in its operational regions.
