New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has announced the commercial commencement of 25 MW solar power capacity in Bhuj, Gujarat. This capacity is part of a larger 150 MW solar project being developed by Ayana Renewable Power Four Private Ltd.
According to a regulatory filing made on September 3, 2025, NGEL declared that the 25 MW portion of the project has officially begun commercial operations. The project is located in Bhuj and forms a key part of NGEL’s growing renewable energy portfolio in western India.
Partnership Driving Green Growth
The project is being executed by Ayana Renewable Power Four Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power Pvt Ltd, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Energy Pvt Ltd—a joint venture between NTPC and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
This partnership highlights the strategic push by two of India’s largest public sector enterprises—NTPC and ONGC—toward accelerating renewable energy adoption, in line with the Government of India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

NGEL’s Growing Green Portfolio
With the latest addition, the total installed capacity of the NGEL Group has risen to 7,272.575 MW, reinforcing its position as a key player in India’s renewable energy sector.
The Bhuj project adds to NGEL’s rapidly expanding clean energy portfolio, which includes solar and wind projects across multiple Indian states. NGEL is also involved in green hydrogen, battery energy storage, and round-the-clock renewable energy projects.
Strategic Significance
Gujarat, with its high solar irradiance and land availability, continues to be a preferred destination for solar power investments. The commissioning of this 25 MW capacity not only helps meet local energy needs but also contributes to the state’s renewable energy targets and India’s national commitment under the Paris Agreement.
The project’s phased commissioning approach allows NGEL and its partners to begin operations and grid integration before the entire 150 MW is fully operational, enabling earlier returns on investment and operational experience for upcoming capacity.
What’s Next?
NGEL is expected to bring the remaining 125 MW of the Bhuj project online in subsequent phases. The company has also indicated plans for further expansions through partnerships and independent projects aimed at strengthening India’s clean energy backbone.
This project stands as another milestone in NTPC’s transformation from India’s largest thermal power producer to a leading clean energy corporation.
