New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has declared the commercial operation of 69.04 MW capacity of the Khavda-I Solar PV Project in Gujarat, marking another step forward in India’s renewable energy growth. The development was informed through a regulatory filing made by the company on Wednesday.
Part of Mega Khavda Solar Development
The newly commissioned 69.04 MW capacity is the eighth segment of the massive 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project. The project is being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited.
The company stated that this capacity has been declared commercially operational with effect from 00:00 hours on December 25, 2025.
Installed and Commercial Capacity Increases
Following this commissioning, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group has risen to 7,996.30 MW. Meanwhile, the group’s commercially operational capacity has reached 7,927.26 MW, highlighting consistent progress in bringing renewable projects online.

The Khavda solar projects form a key part of India’s large-scale renewable energy push. Such developments support the national goal of expanding clean power generation while reducing carbon emissions and dependence on conventional energy sources.
