NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has secured 1,000 MW capacity in the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) solar PV power project auction. The company signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) at a competitive tariff of ₹2.56 per kWh on June 4, 2025.
Background of the Auction
The tender, conducted through e-reverse auction in January 2025, aimed to select solar power developers for 2,000 MW of ISTS-connected solar projects across India. NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, emerged as a successful bidder in this process.

Future Growth and Capacity Targets
The company reaffirmed its commitment to expanding renewable energy capacity, targeting 40 GW by FY 2032 and a total renewable portfolio of 60 GW. Additionally, NTPC plans to commission 14 GW of pumped hydro storage capacity in the next six to nine years.
Strategic Partnership for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)
In a significant move towards greener fuels, NTPC Green Energy partnered with Honeywell Automation India to explore production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in India. Using Honeywell’s eFining technology, SAF will be produced from CO₂ captured at NTPC power plants combined with green hydrogen, advancing NTPC’s green fuel ambitions.
Aligning with India’s Clean Energy Vision
This solar power project and SAF partnership align with the Government of India’s Digital India and renewable energy initiatives, underscoring NTPC Green Energy’s role in driving sustainable, low-carbon energy solutions across the country.
Financial Performance Highlights
In Q4 FY 2025, NTPC Green Energy reported a threefold increase in net profit to ₹233 crore, compared to ₹81 crore the previous year. Quarterly revenue rose by 22.5% to ₹622.3 crore from ₹508 crore, reflecting strong operational performance.
