Chamoli: In a significant step towards improving emergency healthcare infrastructure in hilly regions, NTPC Limited today handed over an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance to the District Hospital, Gopeshwar, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Valued at ₹30 lakh, the high-tech ambulance is equipped with critical life-saving equipment and is expected to greatly enhance medical response in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.
Formal Handover by Chamoli District Magistrate
The ambulance was formally inaugurated and handed over by Dr. Sandeep Tiwari, District Magistrate of Chamoli, during a ceremony attended by senior district officials and NTPC representatives. The dignitaries included Additional District Magistrate Mr. Vivek Prakash, District Disaster Management Officer Mr. Nand Kishore Joshi, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Abhishek Gupta, NTPC AGM (HR) Mr. Rajesh Boipai, DGM (R&R) Mr. D.S. Garbyal, and Executive Mr. Tushar Patle.
High-End Medical Equipment for Emergency Response
The donated ALS ambulance is fitted with a ventilator, defibrillator, oxygen cylinders, and other critical emergency medical support systems. These features are crucial for ensuring quick, efficient, and lifesaving treatment in a region where difficult terrain and remote locations often delay access to medical care.
Support for Disaster Preparedness and Public Health
Given the topography of Chamoli, where access to immediate care can be a challenge, the ambulance is expected to be especially helpful during natural calamities and emergencies. The initiative will significantly strengthen public health infrastructure and disaster preparedness in the region.
NTPC’s Commitment to Community Development
Local administration and hospital officials appreciated NTPC’s CSR initiative, calling it a timely and valuable contribution to improving emergency healthcare access. The move aligns with NTPC’s broader efforts to improve the quality of life in the communities around its operations.
