NTPC NRHQ Signs MoA with Lucknow Zoo, Adopts Lions and Royal Bengal Tigers Under CSR Initiative

Lucknow: NTPC Northern Region Headquarters (NRHQ) has strengthened its commitment to environmental sustainability and wildlife conservation by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden, Lucknow. The agreement aims to promote ecological balance, animal welfare, and improved visitor amenities through focused Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

MoA Signed to Promote Wildlife Conservation

The MoA was formally exchanged between Mr. Sanjay Kumar Biswal, IFS, Director of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden, and Mr. Rahul Sharma, AGM (HR), NTPC NRHQ, in the presence of Mr. S. N. Panigrahi, CGM (HR), NTPC NRHQ, and Mr. Dinesh Badola, Ranger, Lucknow Zoo, along with other officials.

This partnership reinforces NTPC’s long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.

Adoption of Lions and Royal Bengal Tigers

Under the new CSR initiative, NTPC NRHQ will provide financial assistance for:

  • Adoption of four (4) Lions
  • Adoption of three (3) Royal Bengal Tigers
  • Installation of two multi-tap water facility systems at the zoo

The initiative is designed to support animal welfare, ensure better habitat management, and enhance the overall experience for visitors.

Continued CSR Support to Lucknow Zoo

NTPC NRHQ has been actively supporting the Lucknow Zoo through CSR initiatives in previous years as well. During the last financial year, the organization:

  • Adopted a White Tigress and a Giraffe
  • Supported animal care and upkeep
  • Provided a Battery Operated Vehicle for senior citizens and visitors
  • Constructed an entry plaza as a visitor rest area
  • Procured an immobilization gun and related equipment for animal safety management

These efforts highlight NTPC’s sustained role in promoting wildlife conservation and public convenience.

Strengthening Environmental Responsibility

The latest MoA reflects NTPC NRHQ’s continued efforts toward responsible nation-building, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable CSR engagement. By supporting one of Uttar Pradesh’s most prominent zoological parks, NTPC aims to contribute meaningfully to environmental awareness and ecological preservation.
