New Delhi, May 3, 2025 — NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has successfully declared the full commercial operation of its 150 MW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Project in Gujarat. This milestone marks a significant step in NTPC’s journey toward a sustainable energy future and contributes to India’s renewable energy goals.
The project was awarded under the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) 500 MW Solar Phase XII tender. According to a regulatory filing submitted to the stock exchanges on Friday, the final phase of 60 MW was declared commercially operational on April 16, 2025, based on certification issued by the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) on April 30, 2025.
Phased Commissioning Timeline
The 150 MW project has been developed and commissioned in three phases:
60 MW: Commercial operations began on July 29, 2024
30 MW: Operational from December 11, 2024
Final 60 MW: Commissioned on April 16, 2025, completing the project
With this, the entire 150 MW capacity is now feeding clean solar power into the grid.
Driving India’s Energy Transition
This project strengthens NTPC Green Energy’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio and supporting India’s target of 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. The solar park contributes to the company’s strategy of decarbonizing the power sector, aligning with national objectives of sustainability and energy security.
NTPC, India’s largest power utility, is rapidly scaling up its green energy assets through NGEL and NREL, focusing on solar, wind, hybrid, and green hydrogen technologies.
