New Delhi: NTPC Vindhyachal, India’s largest thermal power station, has been honoured with the World Safety Organization (WSO) Platinum Award 2025 in the Five-Star Category, recognising its outstanding commitment to Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) excellence. The award was presented at a grand ceremony held in Mumbai on October 14, 2025.
The award was received by Mr. Sanjib Kumar Saha, Chief General Manager (Vindhyachal), and Mr. Ashish Agrawal, AGM (Safety), from Mr. GMEK Raj, Director General (Retd.), DGFASLI, Ministry of Labour & Employment, and Uwe Georg Fischer, Managing Director, Zahoransky Mould and Machine, Germany.
Leadership in Safety and Proactive Risk Management
NTPC Vindhyachal was recognised for its proactive approach to workplace safety, effective risk management systems, and consistent training and capacity building. The station ensures a safe and efficient working environment for over 850 employees and nearly 8,000 contract workers, reflecting a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
The WSO award celebrates the plant’s implementation of globally benchmarked SHE practices, contributing to its long-standing reputation for operational excellence and commitment to a “Zero Harm” work environment.
Global Recognition for Outstanding SHE Practices
Vindhyachal was ranked in the ‘Excellent Category’ following a rigorous evaluation process by the World Safety Organization, which assessed over 1,200 industries worldwide. This global recognition positions Vindhyachal not only as a national leader but also as an international benchmark in workplace safety and environmental stewardship.
The award reinforces NTPC Vindhyachal’s role in setting new industry standards for safe and sustainable operations in the power generation sector.
