In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Odisha Government has appointed Mr R. Santhanagopalan, an IAS officer of 2001 batch, as the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Department. This appointment was officially announced through a notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department on Tuesday.
Mr Santhanagopalan currently serves as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha and the Ex-officio Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Home (Elections) Department. His new role as the head of the SSEPD Department comes with the additional responsibility of overseeing the welfare and empowerment of persons with disabilities in the state.
As part of the administrative changes, the notification also stated that the appointment of Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra as the Principal Secretary of the SSEPD Department will stand terminated effective from the date Santhanagopalan assumes office.
