Bhubaneswar:— Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has officially started dispatch operations at its Dubna Mines in Keonjhar district as of July 2025. This key development strengthens OMC’s production capabilities and supports efficient iron ore supply.
Mining Activities Resumed After Inauguration
The Dubna Mines, inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in May 2025, have resumed full mining and dispatch operations. The mines have a combined estimated production capacity of 3 million tonnes of iron ore and 0.05 million tonnes of manganese annually. The site holds reserves of approximately 25.77 million tonnes of iron ore and 2.6 million tonnes of manganese.
Expanding Production to Meet Demand
This move aligns with OMC’s strategic objective to broaden its mining operations to meet growing mineral demand. With Dubna fully operational, OMC aims to strengthen its supply chain and support Odisha’s expanding industrial ecosystem.
Focus on Sustainable Practices and Value Enhancement
Chief Minister Majhi highlighted the corporation’s dedication to sustainable mining practices during the inauguration ceremony. OMC is also preparing a techno-economic feasibility report for a planned pellet plant, aimed at adding further value to extracted minerals.
Boosting Economic Growth in Odisha
The commencement of dispatch operations at Dubna Mines is expected to positively impact Odisha’s economy by increasing mineral output and facilitating downstream industrial growth.
