Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹341.43 crore during his Pragati Yatra in Patna City (East Urban Region), aimed at enhancing religious tourism, urban mobility, and civic amenities.
The key projects include the construction of an 8-kilometer riverfront road along the Ganga River, from Gaighat to Didarganj via Kangan Ghat, at a cost of ₹158.40 crore. This road will significantly improve access to Ganga ghats for pilgrims, tourists, and local residents.
In addition, the CM inaugurated a multi-level parking facility near the Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib, Patna Sahib, valued at ₹99.26 crore, which is expected to ease traffic and parking challenges for visitors to the religious site.
Integration with Urban Renewal Initiatives
These projects are part of Bihar’s broader urban infrastructure plan and complement ongoing initiatives like the JP Ganga Path and Atal Path. During his visit, the Chief Minister also inspected the JP Ganga Path, instructing officials to install images of Jayaprakash Narayan along the route. Similarly, at Atal Path, he emphasized cleanliness and the placement of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s photographs to honor the late Prime Minister.
Cultural and Tourism Boost
The Chief Minister emphasized that these developments will enhance Patna City’s religious and cultural significance and provide a major boost to tourism. Local residents and stakeholders have welcomed the projects, hopeful that they will drive faster regional development and improve civic convenience.
