Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the latter released the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana from Varanasi, disbursing Rs. 20,500 crore to benefit 9.7 crore farmers across the country.
Over Rs. 184 Crore Transferred to Uttarakhand Farmers
Addressing the occasion, CM Dhami stated that more than 8,28,000 farmers in Uttarakhand would receive over Rs. 184 crore under the scheme. “Today, I have the privilege of being present among you on this historic occasion when PM Modi has transferred Rs. 20,500 crore into the accounts of nearly 10 crore farmers nationwide. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister and the Union Agriculture Minister,” said the Chief Minister.
Rs. 3.90 Lakh Crore Disbursed Since Inception
With the disbursement of the 20th instalment, the total benefit under PM-KISAN since its launch in February 2019 has now crossed Rs. 3.90 lakh crore. The scheme provides Rs. 6,000 per year, in three equal instalments, to eligible landholding farmers. The amount is directly credited to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring transparency and efficiency.
Tech-Driven Farming Support: Kisan eMitra & AgriStack
The government is further digitising agriculture by launching platforms like Kisan eMitra, a voice-enabled chatbot offering real-time assistance, and AgriStack, which aims to provide farmers with personalised, tech-based support for improved productivity.
In addition, the Department of Posts, through India Post Payment Bank (IPPB), is helping farmers complete e-KYC and update Aadhaar details to ensure smooth access to PM-KISAN benefits.
PM’s 51st Visit to Varanasi Marks Developmental Push
On his 51st visit to Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth Rs. 2,200 crore in Uttar Pradesh. These projects cover key sectors including infrastructure, connectivity, and social welfare, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to grassroots development.
The simultaneous support for farmers’ welfare and regional development, as seen in Saturday’s events, reflects the Centre’s multi-pronged approach to empowering rural India and strengthening its economic backbone.
