Chennai: Punjab National Bank (PNB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission (TNSRLM) to promote women-led economic initiatives and strengthen Self-Help Group (SHG) businesses across Tamil Nadu.
The MoU was signed on January 28, 2026, during the Tamil Nadu Global Women Summit 2026, held at the Nandambakkam Trade Centre, Chennai.
MoU Signed in Presence of Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister
The agreement was executed by Mr. P. Mahendar, Zonal Manager (ZM), Punjab National Bank, in the presence of Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, along with other senior government officials.

Focus on Strengthening SHG Businesses
Under the strategic partnership, PNB will collaborate with TNSRLM to enhance the business capacity and financial sustainability of Self-Help Groups across the state. The initiative aims to support women entrepreneurs, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.
Improved Access to Banking and Credit Facilities
As part of the collaboration, SHGs will gain improved access to banking services, credit facilities, and financial guidance. The initiative is expected to promote financial inclusion, strengthen livelihoods, and support sustainable economic growth.
Commitment to Women Empowerment and Inclusive Banking
PNB reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women through inclusive banking solutions that enable entrepreneurship, economic independence, and community development. The partnership aligns with the bank’s broader goal of supporting women-led progress and grassroots economic growth.
