Power Grid Corporation of India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Haryana State Development and Panchayat Department under the Shiv Dham Yojana. The initiative focuses on constructing and restoring crematoriums and burial grounds in rural areas, benefiting 503 villages and 658 locations across Kurukshetra, Panipat, Karnal, and Rewari districts.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Power Grid CMD RK Tyagi, Director (Personnel) Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Additional CEO of Haryana State CSR Trust Gaurav Singh, and senior officials from Power Grid and the Haryana government.
The Shiv Dham Yojana will enhance facilities at cremation grounds, including drinking water, covered shelters, access roads, and boundary walls. Managed by the State Development and Panchayat Department, the program aims to ensure a dignified and environmentally conscious space for last rites in rural Haryana.
