Maharatna PSU Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Power Grid) recently clocked a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,724 crore for the first quarter (Q1) of the fiscal year 2024-25, reflecting year-over-year growth of 3.52%. The company’s total income for the period stood at Rs 11,280 crore, marking a slight increase of 0.20% compared to the same quarter last year.
Through this tremendous achievement, the Power Grid continues to play a critical role in India’s energy transition, integrating renewable energy sources into the national grid, and supporting the country’s economic growth through reliable electricity transmission.
Operating under the Ministry of Power, the PSU’s extensive transmission network includes 1,77,790 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, 278 substations, and a transformation capacity of 5,28,761 MVA, maintaining an impressive average transmission system availability of 99.8% during the quarter.
The company’s project portfolio remains robust, with work in hand exceeding Rs 1,14,000 crore. This is bolstered by successful participation in tariff-based competitive bidding for Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) projects. In FY’25, Power Grid secured six ISTS projects with an estimated National Capital Territory (NCT) cost of approximately Rs 24,855 crore.
