New Delhi – In a strategic initiative aimed at empowering rural communities and boosting inclusive growth, Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) has partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to launch Project “SAKSHAM”, a comprehensive skill development program under HURL’s Corporate Environmental Responsibility (CER) initiative.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the NSDC headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of Dr. S.P. Mohanty, Managing Director of HURL, along with senior officials from both organizations.
Targeting Rural Empowerment Through Skills
Project SAKSHAM is designed to economically empower 2,265 rural youth, women, and smallholder farmers from low-income families across three districts:
- Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh)
- Begusarai (Bihar)
- Dhanbad (Jharkhand)
The program was formulated following an extensive demand-supply skill gap assessment, with inputs from public-private stakeholders and local communities.
Industry-Aligned Training Across Key Sectors
The project will deliver specialized training across diverse, high-demand sectors, including:
- Banking, Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI)
- Retail
- Electronics & IT-ITeS
- Agriculture & Food Processing
- Competitive Exam Preparation
- Basic Computer Literacy
Expected Outcomes
Project SAKSHAM is expected to deliver measurable socio-economic outcomes, including:
- Increased job-readiness and employment opportunities
- Enhanced self-employment potential via vocational skills
- Stronger linkages to government schemes and support systems
