The Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) has recently appointed Mr. Amitava Mukherjee as the new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of NMDC Limited, a Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU). Mukherjee, who was one of nine candidates interviewed for the position, is currently serving as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (Additional Charge) and Director (Finance) at NMDC.
Mr. Mukherjee’s appointment as CMD will be subject to the necessary clearances and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
It is worth noting that the CMD position at NMDC has been filled on an ad-hoc basis since Sumit Deb’s retirement on January 31st, 2023. Since then, Mr. Amitava Mukherjee, the senior-most board member and Director (Finance), has held the additional charge of CMD.
