New Delhi: Mr R. K. Agrawal, Chairman and Managing Director of WAPCOS Limited, took part in the “Workshop on Industry 4.0” organized by the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) on July 18, 2025, in New Delhi. The event served as a high-level platform for driving digital transformation across Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) through cutting-edge technologies.
Session Chaired by DPE Secretary Emphasizes Digital Disruption
The session was chaired by K. Moses Chalai, Secretary, DPE, who emphasized the transformative potential of Industry 4.0 in enhancing operational efficiency, productivity, and innovation in India’s public sector landscape.
Chalai highlighted the importance of embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twin technology, 3D Printing, and automation to reshape traditional workflows and enable structural improvements in service delivery, engineering, and manufacturing.
CPSEs Push for Digital Integration and Smart Ecosystems
The workshop witnessed active participation from CPSE leaders, technology experts, and public sector innovators. Discussions centered on:
- Building smart ecosystems within government-owned enterprises
- Aligning operations with national missions such as Make in India, Digital India, and India’s Net Zero commitments
- Driving efficiency through data-driven insights and digital infrastructure
- WAPCOS Highlights Tech-Driven Growth in Infrastructure Projects
CMD R. K. Agrawal shared WAPCOS’s initiatives toward digital integration and sustainable infrastructure development, stating:
“Technology adoption is at the core of enhancing project outcomes, efficiency, and stakeholder satisfaction. At WAPCOS, we are embedding digital tools to drive progress in our engineering and consultancy services.”
He further emphasized that public sector organizations must view digital transformation not just as an enabler, but as a strategic imperative.
DPE’s Strategic Initiative to Build Digital Capacity
This workshop is part of a broader strategic initiative by DPE to promote collaboration, capacity-building, and awareness on smart industrial practices within CPSEs. The focus remains on future-proofing public enterprises in an evolving digital and climate-conscious economy.
