IREDA’s IPO Success Story Shared by CMD in Gurugram IIFCL Meet

The corporate strategy meet of India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (IIFCL) in Gurugram witnessed a gathering of esteemed leaders who convened to deliberate on the future trajectory of India’s infrastructure financing landscape. Mr. Pradip Kumar Das, the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), shared invaluable insights during the event on Saturday.

Mr. Das shed light on the remarkable success story of IREDA’s recent Initial Public Offering (IPO), emphasizing the foundation of the agency’s achievements. He highlighted key factors such as unwavering commitment to good governance, solid business fundamentals, and a cultural shift towards enhanced transparency and collaboration. Notably, IREDA has embraced a collaborative approach with borrowers, viewing them as partners in progress, which has accelerated the growth of the renewable energy sector.

Recognizing the indispensable role of human resources, Mr. Das emphasized the significance of nurturing a highly motivated workforce. He commended the dedicated efforts and innovative spirit of Team IREDA, attributing their collective contributions to the triumph of the IPO.

He also reflected on the challenges encountered during IREDA’s IPO journey, particularly considering the agency’s previous unsuccessful attempts. Through substantial growth and a steadfast commitment to corporate governance and transparency, IREDA successfully transformed investors’ perceptions, paving the way for a successful IPO. Drawing from this experience, he offered crucial insights to IIFCL, providing guidance for their own IPO journey.

The event was graced by Dr. Vivek Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), who served as the Chief Guest. Mr. Joshi shared valuable insights and commended CMD Das and IREDA for their pivotal role in advancing the green energy sector’s development.

Mr. PR Jaishankar, Managing Director of IIFCL, extended a warm welcome to CMD Das, acknowledging IREDA’s significant achievements. He applauded IREDA’s milestone accomplishment in securing a successful IPO and its enduring leadership in the renewable energy sector over the past 37 years, aligning with the sustainable development goals of the Government of India.

Additionally, CMD Das addressed queries from the audience, enriching the dialogue on infrastructure financing and renewable energy development. The presence of Mr. Kamlesh Chandra Varshney, full time member of SEBI, further added to the significance of the occasion.
