New Delhi: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), India’s largest oil refining and marketing company, has announced the appointment of Ms Esha Srivastava, a seasoned Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, as the Government Nominee Director on its Board. The appointment is effective from June 20, 2025, as per a directive issued by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) dated June 19.
The development was disclosed through a regulatory filing made by the Maharatna public sector undertaking to stock exchanges on Friday.
Senior Diplomat Brings Rich International and Policy Experience
Ms. Srivastava is a 2004-batch IFS officer currently serving as Joint Secretary (International Cooperation) at MoPNG. A distinguished academic, she holds an M.Phil. in Political Science from Delhi University, where she was a gold medallist, and is an alumna of Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi.
Over her diplomatic career, Srivastava has held a number of significant international and domestic postings. Her assignments have included roles in Paris, Colombo, and at the Permanent Delegation of India to UNESCO. She also served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Thimphu, Bhutan.
A Seasoned Board Member in the Energy Sector
In addition to her current role at MoPNG, Srivastava serves on the boards of ONGC Videsh Ltd. and Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd. She has previously held directorships at GAIL (India) Ltd., Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd., and Bharat Petro Resources Ltd., bringing extensive corporate governance experience in the oil and gas sector.
IOCL confirmed that Ms. Srivastava is not related to any existing Board member and has no disqualifications under SEBI or government norms from holding the office.
Her appointment is expected to further strengthen the strategic alignment between IOCL and India’s energy diplomacy and international cooperation efforts, especially amid a rapidly evolving global energy landscape.
