The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) recommended the appointment of Mr. Samir Chandra Saxena as the next Director (Market Operation) of the Miniratna PSU, Grid Controller of India Limited (Grid-India). Mr. Saxena presently serves as the Executive Director (National Load Despatch Centre) in the same organisation.
Mr. Saxena made the cut from a list of 11 candidates – eight candidates from Grid-India and three from NTPC Limited. In his new capacity, Mr. Saxena shall become an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors and report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He shall be tasked to oversee commercial operations, electricity market operations, open access in inter-state transmission, power exchange operations, accounting and settlement of electricity transmitted through the grid, deviation settlement, pool account operations, integration of renewable energy, REC mechanism, and legal and regulatory affairs.
