New Delhi: NBCC (India) Limited, a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has been awarded a significant contract by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) to construct nine new Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, and Telangana. The total value of these projects is approximately ₹518 crore.
Project Locations and Scope
The nine JNV campuses will be developed in the following districts-
- Arunachal Pradesh: Lohit, Pakke Kessang, Lepa Rada, Lower Siang
- Assam: Sonitpur, Majuli, Charaideo
- Manipur: Noney
- Telangana: Bhadradri Kothagudem
Each campus will feature comprehensive civil and infrastructure development, including-
- School buildings with central covered courtyards
- Smart classrooms and administrative blocks
- Boys’ and girls’ dormitories with warden residences
- Staff quarters, guest houses, and residences for the principal and vice principal
- Kitchen and dining facilities
- Sports infrastructure, including a 400-meter EPDM running track, football field, mini integrated sports complex, and open gyms
- Electrical substations, pump houses, and guard rooms
- Comprehensive site development with boundary walls, internal roads, water supply systems, and landscaping
Commitment to Quality Education and Infrastructure
NBCC’s Chairman and Managing Director, K.P. Mahadevaswamy, emphasized the company’s dedication to strengthening educational infrastructure across India. He stated, “NBCC is committed towards strengthening the education infrastructure in the country. We have been closely involved in constructing educational infrastructure for Navodaya Vidyalayas across India and we hope to continue this association in the future also.”
This initiative aligns with the Government’s vision of providing equitable and quality education, especially in remote and underserved areas. The establishment of these JNVs will not only enhance educational facilities but also contribute to the socio-economic development of these regions.
Previous and Ongoing Projects
Prior to this, NBCC has been engaged in the construction of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in various locations across Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, with a total project value of ₹346 crore. These ongoing projects reflect NBCC’s continued commitment to supporting the Government’s educational initiatives.
