In a recent development, the flagship PSU of the Government of India and the country’s premier hydropower company operating under the Ministry of Power, the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited, secured the bid to develop a 200 MW capacity Solar Power Project in the 1,125 MW RE Park of the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd. (GSECL) in Kachchh district of Gujarat, via an e-reverse auction conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited on March 2n and the Letter of Intent was issued on March 14th.
Via this project, the government aims to generate approximately 473 million units of electricity in the first year of its operation and over 10,850 million units of electricity over 25 years.
The project has been conceived on a build-own-and-operate basis at a tentative development cost of Rs. 847 crores and has been secured at a tariff of Rs. 2.66 per unit, expected to roll out in 18 months.
