CHANDIGARH: In a significant administrative overhaul, the Punjab Government today, Wednesday (August 20, 2025), announced the transfer and posting orders of 22 IAS and 9 PCS officers.
The reshuffle is aimed at re-energizing key departments and placing experienced officers in critical roles to streamline governance and enhance administrative efficiency.
Key Appointments and Transfers
The reshuffle saw several senior officers being assigned new responsibilities, while others were given additional charges.
Vikas Pratap, 1994 batch IAS officer, who was awaiting posting, has been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary, Social Security, Women and Child Development. This new role relieves Smt. Raji Pramod Shrivastava, IAS, of the additional charge she was holding.
IAS Sumer Singh Gurjar (1998 batch), who was serving as Principal Secretary, Elections, will now hold the additional charge of Financial Commissioner, Cooperation, in addition to his current portfolio. He takes over this charge from Shri Alok Shekhar, IAS.
IAS Mohammad Tayyab (2007 batch), who was also available for posting, has been appointed as the new Secretary, Jails.
2009 batch IAS officer Gurpreet Singh Khaira, previously serving as Secretary, Local Government and Director, Local Government, has been transferred and posted as Secretary, Justice.
2010 batch IAS officer Sandeep Hans, whose services were placed at the disposal of the Department of Industries & Commerce for the Punjab Information and Communication Technology Corporation Limited (Punjab INFOTECH), will now serve as its Managing Director. He takes over this additional charge from Shri Rahul Chaba, IAS.
