New Delhi: The Quality Council of India (QCI), in collaboration with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), organized the Inter PSU Gunvatta Manthan at BHEL headquarters in New Delhi. The initiative aimed to foster cross-learning, collaboration, and operational excellence among India’s Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
Participation from Major Central PSUs
The event brought together leaders and quality experts from key Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), including BEL, BPCL, EIL, GAIL, IOCL, PGCIL, and THDC. The forum served as a platform to share best practices in quality management, operational efficiency, business excellence, and sustainability-driven innovation.
Driving India’s National Quality Movement
Discussions highlighted QCI’s growing role in advancing India’s national quality movement through structured frameworks such as Six Sigma, Lean Management, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Quality Circles, and digital transformation models. Interactive sessions enabled participants to benchmark quality practices and identify opportunities for improvement and collaboration.
Expert Insights and Keynote Addresses
Dr. Durgesh C. Gupta, Head of Corporate Quality and Business Excellence at BHEL, led the event in association with the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB) under QCI.
Jaxay Shah, Chairperson of QCI, stated:

S. M. Ramanathan, Director (R&D), BHEL, emphasized the importance of adopting effective quality processes from design to delivery, which ensure improved customer satisfaction and operational performance.
Dr. Ravi P. Singh, Chairperson, NABCB, underlined the significance of credible and competent quality assurance frameworks, highlighting the need for strong conformity assessment mechanisms to enhance India’s global competitiveness.
Models for Collaboration and Benchmarking
The event concluded with a joint session by QCI and BHEL outlining models for institutional collaboration, including tailored quality partnerships, benchmarking frameworks, and maturity enhancement programmes. The initiative reaffirmed both organizations’ commitment to quality-oriented governance, operational excellence, and innovation across Indian PSUs.
