Bhubaneswar: A recent request for a meeting between senior officials of Bridge and Roof (B&R) Company and Odisha’s Principal Secretary, Bishnupada Sethi, an IAS officer of 1995 batch, has raised serious concerns, especially following the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) raid on December 7.
The meeting request, dated December 5, was made by Chanchal Mukherjee, the Director of the company, leading to speculation about the nature of the meeting and its connection to the ongoing investigation.
The letter from Bridge & Roof (India) Ltd Company, a Central PSU, addressed to Bishnupada Sethi, requested a meeting with the IAS officer and two senior officials, CK Mukherjee and BK Singh, GM of the East Coast region. The letter indicated the purpose of the meeting was related to various projects executed by the company in Odisha. However, it remains unclear whether the meeting actually took place, as there is no conclusive evidence to suggest that the two parties met.
This meeting request has raised eyebrows, particularly since Bishnupada Sethi had previously approved a contract for the up-gradation of Aashram Schools and High Schools to Bridge and Roof Company on October 19. The timing of the meeting request just days before the CBI raid has drawn attention, fueling questions about potential links between the meeting and the ongoing investigation into corruption.
As authorities continue to probe into the matter, the timing and circumstances surrounding the meeting request and the subsequent raid remain a focal point of scrutiny.
