Tourists Mahendra Kishore Shukla, Abhinav Shukla, Aarti Shukla, and Manvendra Kumar Shukla were passing through the Motor Adda jungle area when they noticed the rhino calmly sitting amidst the greenery. The sight of the rare R-Five rhino so close in the wild left the visitors awe-struck, making it a memorable wildlife experience of a lifetime.
Natural Beauty of Valmikinagar Amazes Visitors
The tourists also praised the serene and lush environment of Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve. They highlighted the tranquility of the forest, the playful deer, chirping birds, and the overall natural beauty, describing the experience as an opportunity to witness nature in its purest form.
About the ‘R-Five’ Rhino and Its Habitat
According to forest officials, VTR is home to two rhinos—one male and one female. The male rhino, named ‘R-Five’ by the forest department, is generally spotted near the eastern edge of the reserve, while the female rhino primarily roams forests in Bihar.
The movement of wildlife between India and Nepal is natural due to the open border between the two countries, allowing rhinos and other animals to migrate freely.
Forest Department Monitoring and Conservation Efforts
Valmikinagar Ranger Satyam Kumar stated that the forest department continuously monitors wildlife movement and ensures a safe and favorable environment for animals. Such efforts are critical for the protection of endangered species like rhinos and maintaining the ecological balance of the reserve.
The recent sighting of R-Five highlights the rich biodiversity of Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve and underscores the importance of continued wildlife conservation in the region.
