New Delhi: Following the repatriation of V. Srinivas (IAS: 1989, Rajasthan cadre) to his parent cadre in Rajasthan, the Central Government has assigned the additional charge of his current posts to Rachna Shah (IAS: 1991, Kerala cadre).
Mr Srinivas was serving as Secretary of both the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (AR&PG) and the Department of Pensions & Pensioners’ Welfare (P&PW). He has been named as new Chief Secretary of Rajasthan.
According to an official DoPT order issued on Friday, the competent authority approved Shah’s assignment until a regular incumbent is appointed, ensuring continuity in these critical departments.

Who is Rachna Shah?
Rachna Shah is a 1991-batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre, born on 29 November 1967. She holds a B.A. and M.A. from Delhi University and is proficient in English, Hindi, and Malayalam.
Ms Shah is currently serving as Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (MoPPGP). She has also held the position of Secretary, Department of Textiles, showcasing her versatility and extensive experience in central administration.
Significance of the Appointment
With the additional charge, Shah will oversee two vital departments responsible for administrative reforms, public grievances, pensions, and welfare of pensioners. This temporary arrangement highlights the government’s focus on ensuring stability in central administrative functions amidst ongoing bureaucratic reshuffles.
