Chennai: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has secured a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) worth ₹90.64 crore from Southern Railway for the installation of Video Surveillance Systems (VSS) across 484 railway stations. The project will be completed within 18 months.
Strengthening Passenger Security Infrastructure
Under the contract, RVNL will implement VSS at 441 D and E category stations while also augmenting surveillance systems at 43 higher-category stations, including A1, A, B, and C stations. This large-scale project reflects the Indian Railways’ ongoing push to strengthen passenger safety and modernize station facilities with advanced monitoring solutions.
Boost for Railway Modernization
The installation of video surveillance will enable real-time monitoring, enhance security preparedness, and improve overall passenger confidence. RVNL’s execution of this project is expected to set new benchmarks in the adoption of smart safety technologies across the railway network.

RVNL’s Expanding Project Portfolio
Recently, RVNL also bagged a major contract from IRCON International Ltd. for supply and installation works, highlighting its growing role as a key player in railway infrastructure development. On August 16, RVNL shares closed at ₹324.75 on BSE, down 0.48%, reflecting market activity following the announcement.
