New Delhi — Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has bagged a contract worth ₹178.64 crore from IRCON International Limited. The work involves a wide scope of signalling, telecommunications, and electronic interlocking (EI) installations across key railway stations and sections in Chhattisgarh.

Scope of the Project

The contract entails the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of:

Distributed/Centralised Electronic Interlocking (EI) systems at 10 new stations:

  • Surakachhar
  • Block Cabin
  • Katghora Road
  • Bhingra
  • Putuwa
  • Matin
  • Sendurgarh
  • Putipakhana
  • Dhangawan
  • Bhadi

6 new Intermediate Block Sections (IBSs) in:

  • Bhingra–Putuwa
  • Putuwa–Matin
  • Sendurgarh–Putipakhana
  • Putipakhana–Bhadi
  • Bhadi–Dhangawan
  • Dhangawan–Pendra Road

New Section Control System including:

  • Headquarters and wayside train control communication equipment
  • Train communication systems in the Gevra Road–Pendra Road section

Additional Works Included

Apart from the core EI and telecom works, the project also includes:

  • Installation and commissioning of new Telephone Exchange and EIMWBs (Electronic In-Motion Weigh Bridges)
  • Modifications in existing panel interlocking at Kusmunda Block Station (KBS) yard
  • Alterations in the electronic interlocking system at East Cabin of SECL SILO Siding (KMKA)
  • Associated miscellaneous signalling and telecom works

Timeline and Execution

The entire project is expected to be completed within 11 months, reflecting a swift execution schedule for a high-value, technically complex contract.

This contract reinforces RVNL’s core strength in railway infrastructure development and positions the company as a key player in the national push for modernising railway signalling and communications. It also aligns with Indian Railways’ broader goals of improving safety, operational efficiency, and automation across its vast network.
