Noida: RailTel Corporation of India, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, conducted the Bhoomi Puja ceremony for its upcoming 10 MW Silver Jubilee Data Center in Noida on Tuesday. The project, developed in partnership with Techno Electric & Engineering Company Limited (TEECL), is set to significantly enhance India’s digital infrastructure and strengthen its AI-ready ecosystem.
Aligned with Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission
Congratulating RailTel, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT, praised the initiative:
“I express my compliments to the RailTel team for setting up a 10 MW Data Centre in Noida. This is in line with the Digital India Mission as envisioned by Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi. This domestic data centre will help meet Bharat’s data localization requirements and strengthen national data security.”
Spread across 17,000 square meters, the Noida facility will comply with global standards and enhance India’s capabilities in secure data hosting.
Future-Ready Digital Infrastructure and Services
The new data center will initially provide a 10 MW IT load capacity and a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Shared and dedicated hosting
- Co-location facilities
- Managed services
- Secure cloud and connectivity solutions
RailTel CMD Sanjai Kumar highlighted the project’s significance:
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to the Digital India mission. Awarded through a competitive open tender under a 30-year revenue-sharing model, TEECL is our long-term managed service data center partner. Together, we are extending our nationwide digital network, including tier-2 and tier-3 towns to support AI adoption, cloud-first strategies, and secure connectivity for government, enterprises, and underserved regions.”
India’s First Carbon-Neutral Data Center
TEECL emphasized its focus on sustainability for the project. Ankit Saraiya, Director & CEO of TEECL, said:
“Bhoomi Pujan at Noida is a significant step in our journey to build one of India’s most sustainable and interconnected digital infrastructures. This data center will be India’s first carbon-neutral facility operating entirely on renewable energy. Our digital arm, Techno Digital Infra, will execute the project.”
High-Level Attendance at the Bhoomi Puja Ceremony
The ceremony was led by Sanjai Kumar, CMD, RailTel, and attended by senior officials including V Rama Manohara Rao (Director Finance), Manoj Tandon (Director POM), Yashpal Singh Tomar (Director NPM), Parag Kumar Goyal (PED Enterprise Business), and Ankit Saraiya (Director & CEO, TEECL). Officials from both RailTel and TEECL were present to mark the formal commencement of construction at the strategically located Phase 2 Noida site.
