New Delhi: Railtel Corporation of India Ltd., a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking providing broadband and VPN services, has announced the re-appointment of Dr. Subhash Sharma as an Additional Independent Director on its Board, effective April 15, 2025.
The appointment is in accordance with the Ministry of Railways’ Order.
Dr Subhash Sharma, a Doctorate in Economics, is a well-respected figure in both academic and legal circles. A trained economist, Dr. Sharma completed his Ph.D. in Economics from Punjabi University, Patiala and later earned his LLB from Desh Bhagat University in 2018. He is also a practicing advocate at the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Currently, Dr Sharma is the Founder Director of the Centre for Economic Policy Research, a think tank dedicated to economic policy research. He has previously served as an Independent Director on the Board of Hindustan Copper Limited, a Mini Ratna Company of the Government of India.
A prolific writer and thinker, Dr. Sharma has authored over 150 articles on socio-economic and socio-political issues in various research journals, newspapers, and magazines. His notable publications include three books: Organic Farming: An Economic Analysis, Walmart: Threat to Indian Retail Sector, and Bharat: Smridhi ka Marg, with two more books currently in progress.
Dr Sharma’s re-appointment is expected to bring valuable insights and expertise to Railtel’s Board, especially in areas related to economic policy and public sector management.
Additionally, in a separate development, Dr Priyasheel Hada has been appointed as a Non-Official Independent Director on the Board of Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI).
