New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on May 29, 2025, has recommended the elevation of three Advocates to the bench of the Rajasthan High Court. This move is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the judiciary in the state, which has seen a series of new appointments over the past few months.
Three Advocates to Join Rajasthan High Court as Judges
The Advocates recommended for elevation are–
- Bipin Gupta
- Sanjeet Purohit
- Ravi Chirania
The decision was taken by the Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India BR Gavai, with the aim of addressing the judicial vacancies in the Rajasthan High Court.
Rajasthan High Court to See 11 New Judges in 2025
With this latest recommendation, the number of new judges appointed to the Rajasthan High Court in 2025 will rise to 11. The state has already received 8 new judges in the last 5 months, reflecting a notable focus on improving judicial capacity and reducing case backlog.
Current Strength and Capacity Gap
The Rajasthan High Court currently functions with 38 judges against a sanctioned strength of 50. Once these appointments are formalized, the court will be closer to full strength, enhancing its capacity to deliver timely justice.
The Collegium’s recommendation to elevate three experienced advocates reaffirms the commitment to strengthen the judiciary and ensure efficient case disposal in Rajasthan. With a total of 11 judges added in 2025 alone, the High Court is on a promising path toward addressing long-pending vacancies.
