Jaipur: The Rajasthan government on Friday executed a major reshuffle in the Forest Department, transferring 33 Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers, assigning additional charge to four officers, and posting two APO officers. The extensive bureaucratic movement aims to streamline administration, strengthen field operations, and address recent dissatisfaction expressed by the state leadership.
In the most prominent move, PCCF (Wildlife) Shikha Mehra has been transferred to the post of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Development).
Action Triggered After Non-Compliance With CM’s Orders
Sources indicate that the transfers of 1993 batch IFS officer Shikha Mehra and 1997 batch IFS officer Rajesh Kumar Gupta were influenced by a recent incident where both officers reportedly failed to comply with Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s directive to open Forest Department guest houses to tourists.
The Chief Minister and Forest Minister expressed strong displeasure over the delay, leading to disciplinary instructions. Now, both officers have been moved to new postings.
