Ajmer: The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) is set to implement a more structured and transparent interview process for RAS 2023, modeled on the lines of the UPSC. The move comes amid past criticism over interview transparency, especially regarding RAS 2018.
Starting Monday, RAS interviews will include retired top administrative officers, including former Chief Secretaries, on the interview board alongside subject experts. Interviews will be conducted with the help of a checklist of over 10 key evaluation points, such as:
- Candidate’s body language
- Knowledge of current affairs
- Understanding of administrative systems (India & Rajasthan)
- Communication skills and confidence
Candidates will be rated in categories ranging from “Very Poor” to “Excellent”, with scores assigned individually by each board member. Final marks will be filled by the chairman and sealed.
Key Highlights of the New RPSC Interview Model:
- Retired CS-level officers to join the board as experts
- Evaluation based on a detailed checklist across 10+ parameters
- Marks categorized as Very Poor, Poor, Good, Very Good, Excellent
- Interview report card sealed after expert consensus
- Token system to randomly assign interview boards, ensuring anonymity
- Candidate briefing before interviews begins – also now adopted by UPSC
The interview process for 2168 candidates shortlisted for 972 RAS 2023 posts will span approximately 4 months, starting with one board and gradually expanding to more.
This initiative aims to enhance fairness, objectivity, and trust in the selection process, with senior RPSC officials drawing on insights from UPSC and Kerala PSC practices.
