In a significant leadership reshuffle, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has appointed Rajkumar Dubey as the new Chairman of the Board with effect from May 1, 2025, succeeding Sukhmal Kumar Jain, whose term has concluded in line with the company’s rotational leadership policy.
As per the Articles of Association of IGL, the Chairmanship alternates between promoter companies GAIL and BPCL every two years. Sukhmal Kumar Jain had assumed the Chairmanship on January 14, 2025. The baton now passes to Rajkumar Dubey, who is the Director (Human Resources) and holds additional charge of Director (Marketing) at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL).
A mechanical engineering graduate from NIT Allahabad and MBA holder from International Centre for Promotion of Enterprises (ICPE), Slovenia, Dubey brings with him over 36 years of experience in business and human capital development. He has spearheaded wide-ranging strategic HR and organizational transformation projects across more than 400 BPCL locations, impacting over 7,500 personnel.
In a parallel development, Manoj Kumar Gupta has taken over as Head of the CNG Strategic Business Unit (SBU) at IGL, also with effect from May 1, 2025. He replaces Rajeev Kumar, who has been repatriated to BPCL. Gupta joins on deputation from BPCL, IGL’s promoter, and brings 29 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
An electrical engineering graduate from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (Ranchi), Gupta has held diverse leadership positions, including State Head-LPG (Karnataka) and senior roles in retail operations, engineering, projects, and gas business units.
These appointments are expected to bolster IGL’s leadership strength at a time when the company is expanding its footprint in the CNG and PNG sectors to meet the country’s clean energy goals.
