New Delhi: Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh on Monday inaugurated the state-of-the-art Defence PSU Bhavan at the World Trade Centre, New Delhi, marking a major step toward strengthening coordination and innovation among India’s Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs).
State-of-the-Art Facility for Collaboration and Innovation
The Defence PSU Bhavan is envisioned as a hub of synergy, innovation, and collaboration under the Department of Defence Production (DDP). It features advanced conference halls, display zones, and a simulation room equipped with AR/VR technology to recreate real battlefield conditions. The Bhavan symbolizes DDP’s commitment to Atmanirbharta, sustainable growth, operational excellence, and global competitiveness.

Key Officials Present at the Inauguration
The event saw the presence of Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth, Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjeev Kumar, and other senior officials. The inauguration preceded the Defence Minister’s annual performance review of the 16 DPSUs.
‘Year of Reforms’ and R&D Push
Declaring 2025 as the ‘Year of Reforms’, Rajnath Singh emphasized the need for enhanced R&D, indigenisation, and defence exports. Over the last decade, the 16 DPSUs invested Rs 30,952 crore in R&D, with plans to double this pace, targeting Rs 32,766 crore over the next five years.
The seven new DPSUs formed from the corporatisation of the Ordnance Factory Board are expected to invest over Rs 3,000 crore in R&D, while defence shipyards plan an investment of over Rs 1,300 crore. During the event, a compilation of past R&D projects and future plans was presented, along with the unveiling of HAL’s new R&D Manual designed to enhance flexibility, speed, and risk management in projects.
DPSU Performance Highlights
The DPSUs have shown remarkable performance in 2024-25:
- Total turnover: Rs 1.08 lakh crore, up 15.4% from 2023-24
- Cumulative Profit After Tax: Rs 20,021 crore, up 19.5%
- Exports: increased by 51% compared to the previous year
Looking Ahead: Towards Self-Reliance and Global Competitiveness
The Defence PSU Bhavan is expected to serve as a central platform for collaboration and innovation, supporting India’s drive toward self-reliance (Atmanirbharta) and global competitiveness in the defence sector.
