RCFL Appoints Ms. Nazhat J. Shaikh as CMD to Lead Company’s Growth and Strategic Initiatives

Experienced finance veteran and Chartered Accountant assumes additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director, strengthening leadership in India’s fertilizer sector

New Delhi: Ms. Nazhat J. Shaikh, Director (Finance) of Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCFL), has assumed additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the company with effect from January 1, 2026, following the superannuation of Mr. S. C. Mudgerikar on December 31, 2025. The announcement was made through a disclosure to stock exchanges in compliance with SEBI Listing Regulations.

Transition in Leadership

Mr. S. C. Mudgerikar retired from the services of RCFL on December 31, 2025, bringing his tenure as CMD to a close. In line with corporate governance norms, Ms. Shaikh has taken additional charge of the company’s top executive position while continuing her responsibilities as Director (Finance). The company clarified that there are no regulatory issues or conflicts of interest arising from this leadership change.

Distinguished Career and Professional Background

Ms. Nazhat J. Shaikh is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Mumbai University. She began her career at RCFL in 1989 as an Accounts Officer and has amassed over three decades of experience in finance, accounting, taxation, corporate strategy, and fertilizer marketing.

During her tenure, she has handled multiple key responsibilities, including:

  • Overseeing corporate finance and accounting operations in Trombay.
  • Managing fertilizer marketing and corporate functions.
  • Leading IT initiatives and playing a crucial role during SAP ERP implementation and upgrades.

Ms. Shaikh also served as Director (Finance) at the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), taking on additional responsibilities as CMD at NFDC for a brief period. She held additional charge as Director (Finance), Projects & Development India Limited (PDIL), a Government of India undertaking under the Department of Fertilizers, from February 2022 to February 2024.

Appointment in Compliance with SEBI Regulations

RCFL’s disclosure confirmed that the appointment of Ms. Shaikh and the cessation of Mr. Mudgerikar as CMD were made in accordance with SEBI Listing Regulations and relevant circulars. The company emphasized that there is no relationship between directors and that no regulatory debarments are involved in the transition.
