Gurugram: In a major step toward strengthening sports infrastructure and youth development in the North-East, the REC Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Churachandpur, to construct a Multipurpose Hall-cum-Indoor Stadium in Churachandpur district of Manipur.
The agreement was formalized on 26 November 2025 at the REC Corporate Office in Gurugram, marking an important milestone in REC’s ongoing commitment to community development through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Rs 5.03 Crore CSR Support for New Sports Infrastructure
Under this MoA, the REC Foundation will provide Rs 5.03 crore from its CSR funds for the development of the project. The upcoming indoor stadium is expected to significantly enhance sports facilities in the region, offering dedicated spaces for badminton, volleyball, and other indoor activities.
Beyond sports, the hall is designed to function as a community hub, enabling cultural events, youth activities, and fitness programmes—ultimately contributing to social cohesion and overall well-being in Churachandpur.

Leadership Presence at the Signing Ceremony
The MoA signing was held in the presence of key officials, including:
- Jitendra Shrivastava, IAS, CMD, REC Ltd.
- Dharun Kumar S, IAS, District Magistrate, Churachandpur
- Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director (CSR), REC Ltd.
- Other senior representatives from REC and DRDA Churachandpur
The dignitaries highlighted the importance of improved sports infrastructure in nurturing local talent and encouraging youth participation across various athletic disciplines.

The proposed indoor stadium is set to become a major asset for young athletes in the district and surrounding regions. By offering structured training spaces and high-quality facilities, the project aims to promote a stronger sports culture, nurture emerging talent, and create new opportunities for the youth of Churachandpur as well as the wider North-East.
