India Poised to Lead the Global Power Sector

In his address, Mr. Srivastava stated that India is on track to become a world leader in the power sector, calling it “one of the most exciting sectors to be in today.” He credited the Ministry of Power for driving a remarkable transformation and expressed gratitude for its continuous guidance and support.

AI, ML, and Robotics to Revolutionise Power Delivery

Highlighting the disruptive potential of emerging technologies, he noted that Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and robotics are powerful enablers that can reshape how electricity is produced, distributed, and consumed. These technologies, he said, will help utilities optimize operations, detect faults in real time, and enhance consumer satisfaction.

Ministry of Power Sets the Vision for AI-Driven Power Distribution

Earlier, Mr. Shashank Misra, Joint Secretary (Distribution), Ministry of Power, delivered a compelling welcome address. He described the conference as a landmark moment in introducing and mainstreaming new technologies in the power distribution segment.

Mr. Misra explained that under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), the use of large-scale data analytics and AI has become a reality, enabling DISCOMs to undertake deeper insights into consumption patterns, asset health, and predictive maintenance.

He also urged participants, especially distribution companies, to discuss effective ways of presenting dynamic, real-time data to consumers, aligning with the broader goal of improving transparency and service quality.

A Platform for Collaboration and Innovation

The conference brings together policymakers, DISCOMs, technology providers, and industry experts to explore AI-driven solutions that can enhance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in India’s power distribution network. It is expected to pave the way for technological adoption at scale across the country.
